STEAM Box Science - We Take the Science Club to You!
After a rewarding career as a science teacher, I've decided to bring the lab to you! Based in a suburb south of Atlanta, Georgia, I offer a mobile Science Club for curious kids ages 9 to 13. I've packed up all my best materials and supplies and am ready to set up an engaging, hands-on science experience in your approved venue. All you need is a group of young scientists—my sessions require a minimum of 8 kids and can accommodate up to 24. I offer three amazing topics.
Disgusting Dissections. Kids will become real-life anatomists. Using everyday grocery items like a chicken heart and even a mysterious owl pellet, we'll uncover the secrets of the skeletal, muscular, digestive, and circulatory systems.
CSI Investigations. Kids will think critically to solve a mock crime using real forensic tools, including chemicals, magnifying glasses, and crime scene impressions.
Innovative Engineering. A playground for future inventors. Kids will learn to tackle real-world problems by following the engineering design process: identifying a problem, brainstorming solutions, then designing, testing, and improving their creations.
My goal is to make science an unforgettable adventure, turning big ideas into tangible projects.

Disgusting Dissections (5 Sessions)
Disgusting Dissections 🤢🧪
Get ready for some guts and glory! In these sessions, kids become real-life anatomists, exploring the inner workings of everyday grocery store foods like chicken hearts. By dissecting these common animal parts, and even an owl pellet, they'll uncover the secrets of the skeletal, muscular, digestive, integumentary, and circulatory systems in the most unforgettable way possible. It's science that’s a little gross but a whole lot of cool!
Session 1 - Pickle Dissection
PROCEDURES and SAFETY
In this session, kids will learn to:
- Work safely with dissection tools and specimens.
- Collaborate effectively with a partner.
- Observe and identify anatomical structures.
- Handle and use proper dissection tools.
- Properly clean and sanitize the lab space.
Session 2.1 - Chicken Wing Dissection
MUSCULAR and SKELETAL SYSTEMS
In part one of this session, kids will:
- Make scientific observations by comparing/contrasting a chicken wing to their own arm.
- Safely dissect and identify key muscles, tendons, and bones within the wing.
- Clean and maintain the dissection areas.
Session 2.2 - Chicken Heart Dissection
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
In part two of this session, kids will:
- Use a chart to identify the components of a chicken Heart.
- Safely dissect a chicken heart.
- Clean and maintain the dissection areas.
Session 3 - Chicken Foot Dissection
INTEGUMENTARY, MUSCULAR, SKELETAL SYSTEMS
In this session, kids will:
- Make scientific observations by comparing/contrasting a chicken foot to their own hand.
- Safely dissect a chicken foot to identify its skin, muscles, tendons, and bones.
- Clean and maintain the dissection areas.
Session 4 - Whole Fish Dissection
MUSCULAR, SKELETAL, DIGESTIVE, CIRCULATORY, and REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEMS
In this session, kids will:
- Make scientific observations by comparing/contrasting a fish to a human.
- Safely dissect and identify components of each body system.
- Clean and maintain the dissection areas.
Session 5 - Owl Pellet (Puke) Dissection
SKELETAL SYSTEM
- Overview owl digestion.
- Safely dissect an owl pellet.
- Sort and organize skeletal remains.
- Clean and maintain the dissection areas.

CSI Investigations 🕵️♀️🔬
Calling all junior detectives! This is where science meets mystery. Kids will put on their thinking caps to crack cases by analyzing clues. Using chemicals, magnifying glasses, and forensic evidence like crime scene impressions, they’ll learn to think critically and apply scientific principles to solve mock crimes. It’s like a puzzle with a purpose, perfect for budding forensic scientists!

From building a crash test safety device to designing military technology, they’ll get to be creative problem-solvers who turn ideas into reality.
